Fourier Series Representation for Implicit Polynomial Fitting, Bogazici Universitesi Research Report, FBE-IE-08/98-09, 1998 Authors: Cem UNSALAN Aytul ERCIL ABSTRACT: In this paper, a new fitting method is introduced to approximate shape of 2D and 3D objects. This method is based on using polar/spherical coordinate representation for the object contour and expanding the radius function using Fourier series. The new fitting algorithm is compared with existing implicit fitting algorithms with respect fitting performance and timing requirements and is found to have great advantages for robust object representation and real time recognition. |
